Tournament
Rules:
Players
will be grouped into sections according to grade level. Expected sections will be grades K-2,
grades 3-4, and grades 5-6.
The
Swiss system will be used and all players will play four rounds (no one will be eliminated.) This is an unrated tournament and first round
pairs will be by random draw. Note: USCF
players are welcome, but their rating will not be used for pairing purposes,
and their results will not affect their rating.
The time for each ro
und will be Game/30 (each player has 30 minutes) so no round will last
longer than one hour. Older players are
encouraged to practice notating their games, but this is not required.
Medals
or trophies will be presented to the first 3 place-holders, Ribbons for all
players for their participation. Ties
for first place may be decided by games between tied players or a playoff
match. Standard US Chess Federation
tie-break systems may be used (Modified Median, Solkoff,
and Cumulative, in that order) to decide ties for subsequent positions.
Additional
Information:
Please
bring a chess board and pieces if you have one.
Spectators
will not be allowed in the section rooms while games are in progress.
All
participants must be in the Gym or the school lobby when not playing - no one
is allowed in the halls or unused rooms.
If you like to play chess, please come and join us
